FM Nippers
Our Program

At FM our Nipper team promote an inclusive, fun, and pressure free environment. Our focus is making friends, having fun, and learning the skills to stay safe in the surf. While not all of our Nippers will stay on to complete their training to become a Lifesaver, we can guarantee that they enjoy the time they have with our Club and carry the skills they learnt with us into the future.
Our Fairy Meadow Nipper program runs each week during the summer months with a short break over the Christmas period.

Nippers 2023-2024

Our Nippers have finished for the 2022/23 season. Our 2023/24 season will kick off in October 2023. If you wish to join we recommend checking back here for updates later in the year.

Creating future lifesavers

At its core Nippers is a pathway to becoming a Lifesaver and at FM we help our Nippers achieve their potential to develop their skills, and confidence to become great Lifesavers. As kids progress through the age groups, they learn more advanced surf skills with a focus on being safe in the surf.

At age 13 Nippers will complete their Surf Rescue Certificate as part of their weekly Nipper activities. This course teaches CPR, Communication skills, introduces Patrol operations and rescue techniques. It is the stepping stone to the Bronze Medallion which the Nippers go on to complete at age 15. The Bronze Medallion is the core qualification required to be a Lifesaver.

Child Safety

Fairy Meadow Surf Life Saving Club is committed to the safety and wellbeing of every child and young person who takes part in our activities, programs, events or services. The Child Safe Code of Conduct applies to all members and associated parties as outlined in the Child Safety Policy

Surf Life Saving NSW members who work directly with children under the age of 18 must complete a Working with Children Check (WWCC), unless their role is exempt under the legislation.

Skills evaluation

Each year our Nippers undertake a preliminary skills evaluation in the pool. This is undertaken to assess where our Nippers are up to, helps us work out water safety requirements for Sunday Nippers and identify Children who might need some extra help.

Its always a fun day and its a great way to see how far our little Nippers have come since the previous year.

You can see what your Child will be completing on the day!
