Get involved
We are always looking for new members to join our team. The Surf Lifesaving season is from September to April every year. We recommend registering in September to get the most out of the season, but you are welcome to register at any time of the year. Explore this page to discover how you can be involved with Fairy Meadow Surf Club.
Nippers
-
At it's core Nippers is a pathway for younger children to begin learning the skills required to become a Lifesaver in a fun and safe environment. At Fairy Meadow, Nippers is about building confidence, making friends, learning how to enjoy the beach safely, and is about being active and taking on new challenges.
-
Absolutely, we encourage our Nipper parents to get involved! From running the BBQ, helping set up the beach activities, or even undertaking some training to become an Age Manager or Water Safety. There is no pressure on you to take on big roles or responsibilities, we just encourage everyone to help out when and where they can.
-
We advertise the registration process as we get close to the seasons start. In 2024 our Club registration day will be in September for an October start. High-vis vests and other swimwear is available on the day. Keep an eye out for more information or follow the link below to register your interest.

Join a patrol team
-
No you don't! There is plenty to be done on the sand as well. We need members trained in a variety of skills including radio communications, CPR, and first aid - not to mention plenty of eyes supervising swimmers.
-
At a minimum we like our members to be trained in CPR and First Aid. We offer a range of courses depending on what role you want to have in the Club. You can find out more about Education at Fairy Meadow below. SLSNSW provides a great overview of the training available as a member of a surf club - view it here
-
On average our members complete two half day (3.5hr) patrols per month, on occasion this may be higher due to public holidays. Members are expected to attend their rostered patrols or simply find someone to attend in their place if they are unavailable. Fairy Meadow has a strong culture of helping each other out and being very flexibe - we are volunteers and we all work together.

Education pathways
-
Fairy Meadow Surf Club understands that not everyone is able to run into the surf and rescue someone like they do on Bondi Rescue. That’s why we offer two pathways to becoming a Lifesaver.
In addition to training Lifesavers, we believe all of our members should have access to CPR and first aid training. Thats why our courses are open to all members, including the parents and carers of our Nippers. Accredited training in CPR is always free for every member and accredited first aid training is provided at heavily discounted prices through our third-party training partner.
Just another benefit of being a member with Fairy Meadow Surf Club.
-
For the water enthusiasts you can learn skills in rescue techniques, search and rescue and even operate an inflatable rescue boat (IRB).
-
For those who prefer to stay on the sand we offer training in radio communications, first aid, advanced first aid, CPR and advanced resuscitation techniques.
Club facilities & equipment
-
Our members enjoy access to our main Club house and all it has to offer! including hot showers and change room facilities and a gym.
Members can also hire our Club function room at a negotiated discount rate.
-
Yes! Actively involved members can utilise the Clubs boards and skis for fitness and leisure. Our more experienced members will show you what equipment you can use and will ensure you get the required training to use it safely.
Education equipment is also accessible on request to the Chief Training Officer and one on one refresher sessions in CPR, first aid, and rescues are always an option.
-
Our Club gym is open to members 24/7. Members can request access through the Clubs executive committee. Once granted members can make use of the facility any time they like.
